Laser Hair Removal
What is Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (Laser) to remove unwanted hair.
The laser emits light, that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The energy from the light is converted into heat, which shrinks the tube-shaped sacs within the hair follicles that produce hairs. This hair follicle shrinkage inhibits or delays future hair growth.
Why is laser hair removal a good choice for epilation?
The basic principle is that the pigment of the hair should absorb the light. The laser should damage only the hair follicle while avoiding damage to the skin.
Therefore, a contrast between hair and skin colour (dark hair and light hair) results in the best outcomes. Laser hair removal is less effective for hair colours that don’t absorb light well, such as: grey, red, blonde and white.
Benefits
The hair follicle shrinks with each visit. It is recommended that one does 4-6 sessions monthly, to see permanent results.
